Wiggle Out Loud

Ever since we attended Wiggle Out Loud last year, our family has been excited for its return. Thank goodness it’s returning for it’s second year to Bicentennial Park in OKC on Sunday Sept. 14th from 11am-6pm. There are always so many great free summer concerts in the city, but this one is extra special because it is geared just towards the kids! I think it’s awesome that our city can boast about a celebration like this. The family friendly outdoor music festival is a “kiddiepalooza” of sorts that encourages families to get moving and get healthy.

There will be two stages this year: one featuring the headlining bands and one featuring local community performances. Genevieve Goings will be the main headliner, you might recognize her from Disney Junior’s Choo Choo Soul. Other artists performing are Monty Harper, The Doo Dads, Heidi Swedberg, the Sukey Jump Band, the Sugar Free Allstars, and Adam & Kizzie.

Not only do the bands get to perform but your children will get to make music too. There will be an instrument playground and garage band tent for them to test out their musical skills and their parents eardrums! I hear there will also be a drum circle and Stomp experience for those kids who already have rhythm in their souls!

Besides featuring amazing artists for kids (don’t worry, I think the adults will find themselves dancing and singing along too), there will also be lots of booths and tables with creative works for kids to get involved in. Last year my daughter loved the chalk on the sidewalk and the big OKC sign that all the kids got to sign and decorate. There were lots of other artistic collaborations that everyone in the festival could put their hands-on. We spend so much time telling our kids not to touch things that for once there will be a whole festival where they can move, touch, create, and have fun!

When you aren’t jamming out to the music, you can check out the many family centered health activities they have planned such as mom & baby yoga, kids’ Zumba, Tippie Toes ballet, bicycle demonstrations, relays, basketball hoops, and even a hula hoop contest!

Food trucks will be on location so you don’t even have to pack a picnic. The festival lasts from 11am-6pm so come for a little bit or come for the whole day! OKC Moms Blog will be hanging out at “The Latch Lounge” (aka the nursing booth) so be sure to stop by whether you are nursing or not and say hello!
