The Holiday Wrap Up.

I know, I know. The mere fact that I am suggesting you start your holiday shopping is making some of you crazy. You can’t think about it until after Thanksgiving. You need the pressure. You crave the pressure. Never fear – I am not trying to deprive you of the adrenaline produced by waiting at the doors of Walmart at 4:00 a.m. Instead, here’s a guide to help you stock your gift wrap closet so that, as the gifts roll in, you’re ready to wrap. This is my list of a few things to personalize your holidays.

I am somewhat of a wrapping paper junkie. I have disdain for gift bags. You have your quirks, I have mine. Even so, more often than not, I pick up my gift wrap whilst running through Hobby Lobby. But this year, I am embracing the unique and artistic gift wrap that can be ordered from my favorite online paperies. I will probably still fill in with the Hobby Lobby variety (I mean, come on, it has lines on the inside for convenient cutting and folding), but these pretty papers are perfect for those special gift recipients and will liven things up under my tree.

Paper Caper

From left to right: (1) Presents from Rifle Paper Co.; (2) Reversible Polka Dot from Dandelion Paper (this comes in chevron, too); Snowbirds from Dandelion Paper; Custom Tartan from Spoonflower; and (5) Vintage Trees from Paper Source.

So I like my wrapping paper a little quirky and offbeat, but I also like traditional paper.  I feel like these papers meet in the middle. All of these online stores are great resources for your paper needs.  If you’re in the mood for quirky, definitely check out Spoonflower, a website that allows individual designers to sell their wallpaper, fabric, and gift wrap. It is all very unique.

Now if you want to get really crazy (my world is small), you can shoot for a custom wrapping paper. A few websites have started offering custom gift wrap options, and you can do anything from inserting your name into a print to creating a paper entirely of your child’s face (not at all creepy).

Personalized Paper

From left to right: (1) Winter Pines from Minted; (3) Frosty Flakes from Tiny Prints; and (3) Sugar and Spice from Minted.

I love Minted and everything they do, and this wrapping paper is no exception. They have personalized wrapping paper for all occasions, and all the holiday paper is perfection. Tiny Prints and Minted both have options available that allow you to incorporate pictures as well. And what a great idea it is to make personalized paper that includes the recipe for wrapping up sweet treats?  Love.  Speaking of sweet treats . . .

Treat boxes

From left to right: (1) Be Jolly Mini Cookie Boxes from Shop Sweet Lulu; (2) Be Jolly Treat Bags from Sweet Lulu; and (3) Be Jolly Bow Tie Treat Boxes from Sweet Lulu.

How cute are these treat boxes and bags from Sweet Lulu?

And now moving on to an important topic, gift tags. I love a personalized gift tag, and they make great gifts. If you are really a brilliant planner, you could try bringing personalized gift tags to a holiday party as a hostess gift. Minted has a wide personalized selection. Even though my heart belongs to the personalized variety, there are some pretty great non-personalized tags, too. Below is a roundup of my favorites.

Gift tags

From left to right (1) Santa Tags from Sugar Paper; (2) Blushing Christmas Tags from  Minted; (3) Do Not Open Tags from Rifle Paper Co.; (4) Tree Hang Tags from Dandelion Paper Co.; and (5) Brightly Colored Gift Tags from Sweet Lulu.

Are you tired of gift wrap and tags yet? Because we’re almost finished, but how can we not talk ribbons and trimming? Really ribbons and trimming could occupy their own entire blog post, but instead they will have to settle with this little corner of real estate. Truth be told, you can find lots of cute ribbon and trim at Hobby Lobby and Michael’s, but if you’re looking for something a little extra, look no further.

ribbons

From left to right: (1) Merry Christmas Washi Tape from Wishy Washi; (2) Green, Red & White Wired Yard from Paper Source; (3) Christmas Patterned Gift Bows from Sweet Lulu; (4) Snowflakes Falling on Trees from Ribbon Jar; and  (5) Apple Pom Pom Fringe from the Ribbon Jar.

If you truly want one-stop-shopping where you can buy every ribbon and be finished with it, hit the Ribbon Jar. They have every kind of trim, every color of ric-rac, grosgrain, and velvet ribbon, plus some cute speciality ribbon. If Washi tape is your thing, you must peruse Wishy Washi.  They have such cute tapes and a variety of Christmas tapes – perfect for decorating a plain wrapping paper or gift box. Also, if you’re into twine, Sweet Lulu and Dandelion Paper both have a good selection.

Okay, friends, I have done all that I can do. Start clicking and stocking that gift wrap closet before the holiday frenzy washes over you. Also, do you have some favorite websites for gift wrap and trimmings? If so, I would love to check them out. Please leave suggestions in the comments!
