Ready to learn to REALLY Cook? Follow These Foodie Moms

When I became a mother, I didn’t know how to cook. All my meals looked the same (ground beef tacos/nachos/quesadillas, anyone?). I’ve always loved food, and I wanted learn how to cook, but I was intimidated. Thanks to Instagram, I was able to find some beginner-level recipes to master. And once I got to the parenting stage where you have to prepare food for a TODDLER, oh man there was a whole new world of information out there to learn. Seriously, thank goodness for Instagram. There are so many amazing mamas out there sharing tips on how to make feeding your family a positive experience for everyone. 

Today I want to share with you my very favorite foodie moms and a few recipes and tips from them!

The Natural Nurturer
The Natural Nurturer will be your new best [instagram] friend. Taesha finds clever and delicious ways to “veggie-load” every meal for her 8 year-old. She has an extensive list of recipes involving chocolate and that makes her a winner in my book. In addition to general tips on serving veggies to your family, check out her page for her turkey chili, carrot muffins, and chocolate zucchini muffins. I have never made a recipe from TNN that I didn’t enjoy! 

Life Is But a Dish
I love Laney for recipe ideas and entertainment. In addition to her kitchen dance offs, she teaches how to cook without a recipe – empowering you to get creative in the kitchen while learning the basics. I love following along with her family’s Jewish celebrations. She even has an eBook for hosting family holidays!! My favorites from her include some basics like her coconut rice, breakfast muffins, and lemony kale

Fresh Texan
The mama behind Fresh Texan is one of my very best friends in the whole wide world. In college, we ate several thousand chicken salad sandwiches from our favorite sub shop, Lenny’s. Now, she is a mom of two amazing girls with another babe on the way. She is a fellow recipe non-follower like me, but she has a few family-friendly recipes I want to share with you like her *famous* taco pasta, and her highlight on how to make your own healthy mayo. Check out her stories highlights for these recipes! Elizabeth also shares tons of ideas for how to eliminate plastic and make safer swaps around your house. 

Kids Eat in Color
Jennifer’s page is PURE GOLD. She teaches caregivers and parents how to encourage kids to eat the rainbow! I have learned so much from her and even tried some foods that I previously thought I didn’t like. My favorite phrase of hers is, “you don’t have to eat it.” This amazing tool has helped me let go of control and encouraged my toddler to try mushrooms, broccoli, and bell peppers, which he now loves. She gives so many useful tips. I always look forward to seeing her in my Instagram stories because I’m sure to see something I can implement at home. 

Snacks with Jax
Sarah is just plain adorable. She shares daily tips and normalizes all the tricky parts about toddler eating. She encourages ways to help kiddos try new foods, while teaching parents what to expect during different stages of teaching our children to select, prepare, taste, and like all kinds of food. She gives vegetarian options for lots of her recipes, too! I love how she provides with her recipes a list of age-appropriate tasks that your toddler can do to help with dinner. 

Unbound Wellness
I have a total Instagram crush on Michelle, and she is expecting her first sweet baby boy this year so she made my list! A Dallas nutritionist-turned-blogger, she recreates many fan favorites and comfort foods into healthier versions for those with autoimmune conditions requiring the omission of certain food groups. My favorite recipes of hers are hands down her salisbury steak meatballs (so much so that I featured them in my one week meal plan post) and her stuffed squash

Allison Sweatman
Allison educates families about tube-feeding, makes her own kombucha, and shares about inclusiveness. She’s the real MVP when it comes to being REAL on instagram, and she shares a lot about the enneagram, her own therapy and mental health journey. She taught me about fried plantains and for that I will be eternally grateful.
