Mom of the Month: Alice Benge {October 2018}

We are loving our mom of the month series! Do you know a special mom in our community who deserves some special recognition? Fill out the form and nominate a mom you know here! Thank you to True Sky Credit Union for partnering with us to provide a special gift to our Mom of the Month!

We are excited to introduce our October 2018 Mom of the Month, Alice Benge!

Alice was nominated by her friend, Kellie Kirkpatrick. Here’s what Kellie had to say about her sweet friend!

Alice is a mother of two small children who gave up a lucrative job in the oil industry to be a stay at home mom to their 4 1/2 year old adopted daughter and their almost 3 year old post-adoption surprise daughter. She also keeps my almost 2 year old, 4 days a week while we work, for a very paltry sum. In between juggling all these tiny instruments of destruction, she juggles potty training ALL of them, keeping them fed and entertained, and creating very delicious meals for her family that are ketogenic for the adults, and kid friendly for the littles (and yeah, she’s losing weight and looking great!). She also finds time to serve at her church, craft quilts and crochet adorable baby gifts for friends (she even made my wedding dress a few years ago and it was so beautiful and perfect, I could have burst). In general, she is a great friend who gives selflessly of her time. In the nearly thirty years I’ve known her, I’ve never known Alice to put herself above anyone else. In fact, it can sometimes be frustrating to pay her back for her kindnesses. You have to be downright sneaky just to buy her and her husband dinner.

Let’s get to know Alice!

How many children do you have and what are their ages?

2 kids. Ali age 4.75 years and Eli Kat age 3.

What is your favorite thing about being a mom?

I love watching my girls learn new things every day!

What has been the most challenging thing about being a mom?

My biggest challenge comes from the shift from business professional to a stay at home mom and the adjustment to the change in income. I have so many things that I would love to do for my church family and friends that simply aren’t in the budget these days.

What could you not survive without as a mom?

I could not survive without the love and support that my husband provides.

What is your proudest mom moment?

My proudest mom moment so far has been seeing my girls become compassionate young people. They are quick to help in any way they can, especially if they see somebody hurting in some way.

Thank you to True Sky Credit Union for providing this amazing mama with a gift card she can spend on herself!

Alice, we recognize you as one amazing mama! We hope you enjoy your gift card from True Sky Credit Union! Congrats on being our October Mom of the Month!
