We are so excited about our new team of writers! Get to know Jess, Kara and Meredith next!
Jess
I’m a wife, foster mama, dog lover, amateur chef, Instagram fanatic, Starbucks addict, nurse turned photographer. I grew up in the Northern Virginia area and moved to Oklahoma to attend Oklahoma Christian University in 2008. I married my ruggedly-handsome high school sweetheart in 2014, started my own photography business in 2015, and opened our home for foster kiddos in 2016. I enjoy baking, loving on my fur babies, Thunder games, traveling, and date nights with my husband!
I am so excited to share the ups and downs, highs and lows, heartbreaks and victories of foster parenting with you all. While we don’t yet have any permanent kiddos of our own, we are so blessed to be able to provide a home for children that need one and to talk about that process here.
Kara
Kara is a Jesus-loving foodie who lives in Moore, Oklahoma with her husband and three children (ages 5 and under). She has a bachelor’s in Biology and Chemistry from the University of Central Oklahoma and spent two years teaching science before becoming a stay-at-home mom in 2012. She loves coffee, reading, exploring new places, running, baking and gathering people around her kitchen table. She writes regularly for Mom’s Milk Boutique as well as her personal blog, and has written for Desiring God.
I don’t carry a purse. I have lost (misplaced) an embarrassing amount of purses, keys, and wallets, so I try to carry as little as possible and just focus on not losing a child.
Tami Taylor from “Friday Night Lights”… and not just because of her hair.
Either the library or the park… we keep it simple; that’s how we roll.
Discrimination and racial inequality ending.
I am super curious (some say nosey?) and love to ask lots of questions. I hope that’s not offensive.
Meredith
I am an East Coast born, Midwestern raised mama of one little man. I am so lucky to be married to a sweet southern doctor that is truly my rock. After seven years as a pediatric nurse, I am fortunate enough to hang up my stethoscope for the time being to be a stay at home mom. I love my little boy fiercely, as well as red wine, salt and vinegar chips and wandering the aisles at Target. I can’t wait for our little family to grow with the addition of a baby girl in December. Find me over at motherhoodbymeredith.com as well as on Oklahoma City Moms Blog!
