Meet Jenny, Amanda & Kristen {New Contributors}

We are so excited to introduce you to our newest contributors this week!  Up next, three mamas who have a combined 8 kiddos between them!  Meet Jenny, Amanda and Kristen!

Keep checking back this week to meet the rest of our newest team members – we’re thrilled to have them on board!

Jenny

jenny_head_shotJenny is a native of Moore, Oklahoma, where she currently lives. After graduating from OSU and getting married to her husband BJ in 2003, she lived in frigid Minneapolis for four years while earning her doctorate in clinical psychology. Jenny worked in private practice as a licensed psychologist for several years before leaving her job to become a SAHM in 2015. She has three sons, Silas (6), George (4), and Van (2), and is due to have her fourth son in October 2016. The testosterone runs wild in her house, but she loves it! She once considered it her full-time job to stop her boys from doing flips on the couch and otherwise wrestling like bears, but soon realized her surrender to their collective energy was inevitable. Jenny, BJ, and their boys enjoy eating at metro-area restaurants, playing outside, learning, and traveling. When her kids are (finally) sleeping, Jenny thrives on jogging, reading travel books and feminist writings, baking high-calorie treats, and laughing hysterically at the likes of Amy Poehler and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

1. What is the most random thing in your purse right now?
Tweezers. You wouldn’t believe how often I use them though! Little fingers somehow seem to constantly attract little splinters when we aren’t at home!
2. Who is your favorite TV mom?
Without a doubt, Jan Levinson from “The Office.” 😉
3. Favorite thing to do with your children in Oklahoma City?
I love taking my three boys on lunch dates at different restaurants in the metro area. Some of our favorites are GoGo Sushi, Papa Angelo’s Pizzeria, and The Garage.
4. What are you most passionate about outside of motherhood?
This year I have become particularly passionate about reading. Once the kids are in bed, I’m usually pulling out a book! I prefer to read travel accounts (particularly of Iceland) and nonfiction, including history and feminist writing.

Amanda

Amanda1I grew up in Tennessee, Kentucky and St. Louis, Missouri but came to Oklahoma Christian University (OC) for college. That’s where I met my husband, and we decided to stay in OKC. Oklahoma City now feels like home. We have a 16 month old daughter who keeps me on my toes. I got my bachelors’s degree from OC in Biochemistry and my masters as a Physician Assistant from the University of Oklahoma. I have worked in a rural ER and in a county jail as their medical provider but now mainly work for an Urgent Care in Oklahoma City. I love traveling, working out and anything DIY, especially transforming junk furniture into something great. I am also a contributor for the blog Splendry – a collection of all things splendid  (www.splendry.com) where a lot of my furniture DIY projects are shown.

4. What are you most passionate about outside of motherhood?
