Being a working mom is not easy.
In fact, it takes circus-worthy skills to effectively juggle motherhood and career. There’s all the stuff you can’t fit into your day (doctor appointments, errands, groceries, illnesses, house cleaning). The moments of panic when you get a call that your child is sick and needs to be picked up IMMEDIATELY. I respect and admire all my friends who are stay-at-home moms. But right now, it isn’t an option for my family’s situation. And, I’m okay with that.
After all, I grew up in day care. My mother worked as the assistant director of my child care center, and some of my fondest childhood memories occurred there. Playing with friends, dressing up, reading. Recently, I asked my mom about where those memories took place—low key hoping I could re-enroll as a 30-year-old woman.
