It’s That Time of Year!! 2021 Mom-Approved Award Nominations are NOW OPEN!

I think we can all agree that we’ve been through the wringer in the past year. We’ve all experienced loss in varying degrees – loss of plans we’d made, loss of financial security, even the loss of loved ones. There has been so much darkness. But. Our community has also seen some of the best humanity has to offer. We’ve seen essential workers show up, weary and often under-appreciated, to serve those in our community who need them. We’ve seen local businesses demonstrate innovation and creativity, taking great lengths to offer a safe environment for their guests. And we’ve seen our friends and neighbors supporting one another – dropping off groceries and bleach, sharing what they have, and hopping on zoom calls when that’s as close as they can get.

OKC Mom’s annual Mom-Approved Awards hits me differently this year – it feels so special (and imperative!) to formally recognize all the incredible work being done within our community. There is truly so much of it. We’ve removed and added categories this year to fit with the times (hello takeout!), and, as always, the option to add a category of your own! And even if some categories aren’t places you’ve been this year, tell us your very favorites below! We are holding out hope for a brighter 2021 – one that allows us to be closer than six feet apart. You do not need to enter every category to participate. Nominations will be open for two weeks, followed by two weeks of voting! We can’t wait to hear from you!

Stacy
Stacy grew up in Minnesota, but spent the next several years of her life traversing the globe, temporarily setting down roots anywhere and everywhere. Stacy is extremely passionate about the world of adoption and foster care, having spent a year in Uganda adopting her oldest daughter in 2008. Stacy married her husband Jesse in 2011, and they moved to Oklahoma City to grow their family. After a brief hiatus in Minnesota, Stacy and her beloved family of five returned to Oklahoma City in June of 2017. They are thrilled to be back "home" where sweet tea flows like water and they can fully embrace saying "Y'all". Stacy obtained a Master’s degree in child psychology in 2007, but currently uses it only on her own children! A stay-at-home mama since Baby #3 was born, Stacy has stayed busy keeping her children alive and relatively entertained. She loves her little crazy crew fiercely and is enjoying returning to all of their favorite local haunts. When she’s not chasing her kiddos, Stacy is likely traveling or daydreaming about traveling. She also enjoys coffee shops, copious amounts of “cop drama” shows, and perusing pinterest for ideas that have little chance of ever getting done. But they’re good to have. Just in case.
