3 Ways to Show Him You Care

On April 21st, it’s all about the men.

Yeah, they may occasionally smell funky and forget where everything in the kitchen goes, but they’re pretty cute, right?!

If you’ve got someone handsome to call your partner in life, here are three easy ways to show him that you care in celebration of Husband Appreciation Day:

1. Give him “Guy Time”

I don’t know about you, but my husband is busy. If he’s not at work, he’s at school finishing his graduate degree.  If he’s not at school or work, he’s home helping me corral our toddler. Gift him with time off from everything—whether he wants to spend that time alone or with his friends is up to him, but allowing him just a little time without the responsibilities of adult life may be the blessing he needs to keep up all the hard work.

2. Tell him that you appreciate him

This should be a no-brainer for Husband Appreciation Day, but it’s so easy to get caught up in life and completely miss a perfect moment to tell him that he rocks! I haven’t met a person yet who doesn’t like being thanked, in some form, for the effort they put forth in the home, at work, at school, etc. So, when that hunk of a man is bagging up the trash or changing another diaper, stop him in his tracks and tell him how much you appreciate what he does for you…and if you’re feeling flirty, give him a wink or a kiss too!

3. Cater to his Love Language

If you haven’t yet already, I encourage you to take the 5 Love Languages test. It’s a free, online test that will rank your love languages in order from greatest to least important based on how you answer the questions provided.  My husband’s biggest love language is that of receiving gifts.  He loves when someone randomly thinks about him and buys or makes him something to show that they care.  Your husband’s love language might be that of quality time, so take him on a date that you know he will enjoy and spend time investing in him.

The fact of the matter is this: you know your husband best.  He’s your partner and best friend, so even when life is rough and you’re both drowning in the stresses of adulthood, remember that Prince Charming you married and tell him how thankful you are that he exists.  He needs to hear it, whether he’d admit it or not.

Have a Happy Husband Appreciation Day, everyone!
